Robert Claude “Bob” Bushey

left this world in haste to be with his cherished wife, Lynne, once again at his surgery rehabilitation center on the morning of Sunday, June 3 in Chandler, AZ at the ripe old age of 77. th

, 1941 in Anacortes, WA to Russell and Opal Bushey.  He graduated from Marysville High School in 1959.  Following High School, Bob attended Central Washington University and graduated with a BS in Economics in 1965. Prior to graduating college, Bob married his high school sweetheart Lynne Judith Hickey in 1961. Bob worked for Standard Oil (Chevron) in Seattle before being transferred in 1970 to Scottsdale, AZ as a retail rep overseeing 60 Chevron stations. Bob then became a Chevron franchise owner in Tonopah, AZ for the next 18 years.  While living in Washington, Bob and Lynne welcomed 3 children starting in 1962 (Troy), 1966 (Dawn), and 1967 (Darin) before eventually settling in Rainbow Valley, AZ to raise their children. Bob set about teaching his children an intense work ethic that began very early in the morning and became legendary to his children’s friends who were afraid to come over during work time.  His children remember him as an impatient, yet giving father who was very involved in his children’s passion for sports – football, basketball, wrestling, baseball, and equestrian sports.  Bob always made it a priority to make memories for his family by going on multiple vacations yearly, from Mexico to the old stand by destination Spee-Bi-Dah in Washington State to name just a few. Bob had 4 passions.  He was accomplished at horticulture and often planted shrubs, trees, and flowers wherever he happened to be.  He also loved photography and frequently printed his pictures and shared with those closest to him.  Perhaps his favorite activity was cleaning Dungeness Crab.  Many people who knew Bob marveled at his skill at cleaning crab without eating a single bite during the process.  Lastly, Bob loved to cook epic Chinese dinners that typically took 12 hours of intense preparation, study, and beer.  Bob also dabbled in wood working, but was not known for being a skilled craftsman.  Bob was not a fan of green leafy vegetables and usually made a face that his wife and children called “Vegetable face”.

A memorial is scheduled for September 1 in Tulalip, Washington (Spee-Bi-Dah) where Bob spent many of his younger years. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bob’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Chandler Service Club at P.O Box 1243 Chandler, AZ 85244.
