Matthew Francis Burazin

, 91, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2017 from congestive heart failure. He was born in St. Francis, Wisconsin on October 25, 1925, the oldest of four children of immigrant parents from Croatia. Croatian was his first language. Matt’s dad played the concertina. A quick learner, young Matt became proficient playing the concertina. He was drafted into the Army at age 19 and stationed in Okinawa, Japan as a construction foreman during the Occupation of Japan. His concertina and one suitcase accompanied him. Music was a big part of his life and he loved to play, whether for personal enjoyment or his “gigs” at private parties and clubs. Almost everyone who knows Matt has heard him play. Shortly after marrying Violet in 1949, Matt started a construction company in Milwaukee, successfully supporting his family of six in a very competitive market. Tired of the Wisconsin winters, in 1987 Matt and Violet retired and moved to Sun Lakes, trading in a snow blower for a golf cart. They were always grateful for the sun, fun, and friendships. Violet passed away peacefully in 2010 after 61 years of their marriage. Matt was an avid golfer and charter member of St. Stevens, a Eucharistic Minister, and active in
