Manuelita (“Baby”) Christina Valenzuela

, age 77, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021. Manuelita was born in Chandler, Arizona on September 28, 1943, to Frances and Jose Valdez. She had seven siblings in total and is survived by her sisters Olga Valdez, Sylvia Stoll, and brothers Joseph Valdez Jr. and Daniel Valdez. In 1961, Manuelita graduated from Seton Catholic High School in Chandler, Arizona, and began working for Motorola shortly thereafter. On November 24, 1966, Manuelita married her longtime best friend, Gilbert Valenzuela at St. Mary’s in Chandler and began her life’s dedication of creating a family rooted in faith, humility, and love. She was a caring and nurturing parent to her four children Frances, Gilbert, Danielle, and David, and a proud grandparent to Daniel-Jose, son of Danielle. Manuelita was a pillar of the Chandler community who worked hard to instill a sense of family in and outside her home with those she met, and this is evident in her well-beloved presence in Chandler and its neighboring cities.

In 1973, Manuelita and Gilbert moved from their lifelong homes in downtown Chandler to a newer development where her sister Sylvia had already resided and within walking distance of her other siblings. In 1978, she retired from Motorola to focus on raising her family as devoted members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and members of the neighboring community. Her dedication and love of her family is evident in all our hearts through memories of family parties and gatherings that bring about so much joy and laughter. She was proud of her entire family including her countless friends and acquaintances and she relished in hearing how everyone was doing and what they had been up to since she had last spoken with them. Manuelita was a humble servant of the Lord, a happy daughter, a caring sister, a loving wife, a proud parent and Nana, and a dedicated friend to all of us, and she will be greatly missed.
