John L. Sandorf

John Louis Sandorf

passed away on October 11,2016, in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born to Irving Jesse Sandorf and

Norma Louise Schramm on August 11, 1931, in Reno, Washoe, Nevada. John attended Reno High School. He then

attended the University of Nevada, Reno, graduating in 1953 with a business degree. While in college, he met Mona

Lanore Perry. They dated for about two years and married in her hometown of Las Vegas on June 10, 1953. Shortly

afterward, John served in the Army Infantry during the Korean War.

John enjoyed a distinguished career with General Electric, Hotpoint, and Honeywell. This work took him and his family to

places like Hudson Falls, Glens Falls, and Schenectady in New York; Seattle; Phoenix (twice); Framingham,

Massachusetts; and Torrance, California.

A devoted husband and father, John was dedicated to the well-being of his family. He valued higher education and

encouraged all of his descendants to go to college. He loved to keep up with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s

many activities and accomplishments.

John loved books and lemon meringue pie, enjoyed attending sporting events, and admired the paintings of Norman

Rockwell. Occasionally, John would paint a picture of his own. Some of his work can be seen in the home he shared

with his wife.

John is preceded in death by his parents, by his sister Lois Ann Sandorf Baskerville, and by his brother-in-law Don

Baskerville. He is survived by his wife Mona Lanore Perry Sandorf; children Diane Louise (Joel) Weeks, Audrey Lynn

(Rick) Tucker, John Perry (Melissa), Jerome Charles (Virva), and Joel David (Angela); 23 grandchildren; 42 great-

grandchildren; his brother Charles William (Judy); and many nieces and nephews. John’s family misses him dearly, but

they cherish memories of the many years they were able to spend with him.
