Jo Ann Foster Obituary

Jo Ann (Storek) Foster, 71 of Mesa Arizona passed away on March 15, 2018 in Phoenix Arizona after a heroically fought battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jo Ann was born December 26, 1946 to Harold James Storek and Vera (Burtslaff) Storek in Rushville, Nebraska. She graduated from Rushville High School in 1965 and in 1968 attended Chadron State College; where she studied business and English education. She met her husband, Nelson Foster in the summer of 1967 and married one year later on May 28, 1968 in Chadron. They moved to Arizona where her husband attended graduate school. She taught preschool and worked as a manager for Toys R Us. Together, they made their home in the Tempe and Mesa area from 1968 to present.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed spending time with her family and treasured spending almost every weekend with her grandchildren, who were the center of her world. She enjoyed going to the movies, loved reading about European history, watching videos, and working on art projects with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 50 years, R. Nelson Foster, son’s Brandon Foster and wife Stefani; Tyson Foster and wife Jessica, four beloved grandchildren, Marisa Foster Courts, Skylar Foster, Isabella Foster and Adam Laumbach; brother, Harold James Storek and many relatives, dear friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her father Harold James Storek and mother Vera Storek.

No official services are planned. A private family celebration of life will occur. Cremation will occur in Arizona with internment in Rushville, Nebraska at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research. Please continue to think of her and the wonderful memories she shared.
