Grace Mata Braidi

Grace Mata Braidi

61, of Chandler, passed away unexpectedly Sunday September 23, 2018, from complications of the heart. She did not suffer, and is now at rest enjoying eternal peace with our Lord in Heaven.

She leaves behind her husband Naaman, daughter Laura, daughter Olivia Glascock and husband Robert, Sylvia Symonds and husband Adam, and her grandchildren Braidi, Bobby, and Eleanor. Many family members and friends also loved her deeply.

She is preceded in death by her father Adolfo Mata in 1988 and mother Refugia Martinez Mata 1994, her sister Guadalupe Beltran in 1999, and brother-in-law Roy Juarez 1999. Her family finds comfort knowing she is rejoicing in heaven with loved ones.

Born in Mesquite, New Mexico, on February 12, 1957, her family immigrated from Mexico, when her father was selected to participate in the Bracero program. They moved to Arizona in 1960, where she spent the last 58 years of her life.

Grace was an amazing woman. She was extremely compassionate and known for her gracious spirit. She loved unconditionally and was always willing to lend a helping hand, even if you didn’t ask for help.

In 1989 she began teaching at St. Mary Basha Elementary school in Chandler. She taught Spanish to K-8th grade students and led the before and after-school programs until 1995. She was a dedicated teacher that impacted the lives of many students.

In the years that followed she and her husband opened Cactus Sunglasses. Over 20 years in the Phoenix market, they created a following of many loyal customers. Grace was always passionate in everything she did, especially being a small business owner. She handled their accounting needs, keeping the business thriving.

Grace was also extremely devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She would spend countless hours doing everything she could to support their needs. Any day of the week you could find her reading to her grandchildren, making their favorite foods, attending their sporting events, dance recitals, and even volunteering in their classrooms. We are blessed to have had her in our lives. She will be missed immensely.

Celebration of life services will be observed on Friday, September 28th at 5:30p in Chandler at Bueler Mortuary. Flowers are welcome. Grace also loved and supported the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Arizona.  To honor her memory donations may be made at
