of Sun Lakes, Arizona passed away on Saturday, March 21 at Chandler Regional Medical Center.  He was 81.

He received his undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and a Master’s degree from Temple University.

Mr. Kohler retired from Nationwide Insurance after 29 years of service where he held several different positions.  His last position was Vice President of Corporate Services at a subsidiary of Nationwide called Farmland Insurance.

After retirement, Mr. Kohler stayed active in the community of Sun Lakes, most notable but not limited to:  Board member of Sun Lakes Lion’s Club, Board member of Sun Lakes Fire District and Chair of Iron Oaks Risk Management committee.  Member of the Pennsylvania Red Lion Lodge No. 649, Free and Accepted Masons. Mr. Kohler was also active in the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, where he served as usher along with other activities.

Born in East Berlin, Pennsylvania on August 11, 1938, he was the son of the late Clair W. and Janet I. (Miller) Kohler.

He leaves his wife, Shelva Virginia Mae (Calp) Kohler of Sun Lakes whom he married on June 25,1960.  Also surviving are two sons Jon S. (Shelly) Kohler of Queen Creek, AZ and Joel F. (Lisa) Kohler of Mason, OH.  He is also survived by three grandchildren: Scott A. Kohler, Jared F. Kohler and Claire E. Kohler; a brother, Lowell K. Kohler of Red Lion, Pennsylvania and a sister, Lois L. Rife of Wichita, Kansas. Mr. Kohler was proceeded in death by 2 brothers:  Dale F. Kohler and Stanford W. Kohler.

Burial will be in The Gardens at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church with a memorial service to be determined at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, Sun Lakes Fire District or the Sun Lakes Lions Club.
