Eva Annette

“Yoo Hoo” Sweet (Ritchey)

passed away in the midst of her family on 20 Jan 2017. Annette was born in Warren, Arkansas to Keenan and Mary Doster Ritchey on 7 Oct 1932. The family moved to Casa Grande in 1936 where she attended school until her sophomore year. They then moved to Chandler where she graduated from Chandler HS. She also met her husband here, future USAF Lt Joe Carlton Sweet and they married in 1954. Their daughter Debra Ann was born at Williams AFB in 1955. They later moved to Turner AFB in Albany, GA where their daughter Sharon Lynn was born in 1957. Their next assignment to Westover AFB in Springfield, MA ended tragically when Joe was killed in the crash of his KC-135. Annette and the girls returned to Chandler where she tried to put the pieces of her life back together. She worked for Foxworth-Galbraith Lumber Yard for years before joining the Civil Service and served with the USAF. She took accounting courses and worked her way up through the Accounting and Finance sections at several USAF bases. She was initially assigned to Williams AFB. Later she served at Lajes Air Base, Portugal in The Azores, Rhein-Main AB at Frankfurt, West Germany, Los Angeles Air Force Station in California, and Fort Huachuca in Sierra Vista, AZ. After retiring, Annette built a cabin in Pine Top, AZ and moved there with her mother Mary and brother Gary. They lived there for a while before moving back to Arkansas to be with some family that was still there. After the death of her mother, Annette moved back to Chandler.

Annette is survived by her daughters: Debbie Sweet Hancock and her husband Gunnar of Chandler; and Sharon Sweet Hood and her husband Brian of Atlanta,GA. Grandchildren: Tanna Ritter Finnvik and her husband Paul of Gilbert, Brent Hood and his wife Mary Ellen of Wilson, NC, Amy Ann Ritter and Isaac Curiel of Chandler, Stacey Lynn Hood of Atlanta, GA, and Leigha Ritter Darr and her husband Andrew. Great-grandchildren are Cole, Harlee and Piper Finnvik, Nathaniel and Jaryn Ritter-Felix. She was preceded by her parents, brothers Gary and Charlie Ritchey, and grandson Joey Ritter.

Annette led a very active life. Her exploits included javalina hunting, going down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, cruising the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and visiting historical cities from The Bible, touring Germany and England, volunteering with the Chandler RMC.

Annette led a full life and fully enjoyed her time on Earth. She was deeply loved by her family and will be sorely missed.
