Eleanor Mercer

Our beloved mother, Eleanor Mercer, 88 years old, went to be with the Lord on January 27, 2020.

Eleanor was raised in Oregon. She attended Southern Oregon College and majored in dental hygiene. She eloped and married Basil Mercer in 1952. Together they raised five children. Basil retired early and they moved to Coeur d’ Alene, ID to live in the country to garden, do volunteer work with the East Side Fire District, participate in Syringa Club, and enjoy life, including watching the deer, moose and turkey’s roam the acres. She and Basil were married for 60+ years before he passed away. Eleanor was an excellent cook/canner, had a great sense of humor, kind heart and sharp wit. She loved to play bridge, pinochel and read murder mysteries.  She also loved Seal Point Siamese cats and had several for pets over the years.  She will be deeply missed.

Eleanor is preceded in death by spouse, Basil; son, Gregory; and brother, Philip.

Eleanor is survived by four of her children, Marcus, Katherine, Janice (John), Robert (Lori), and nephew, Craig; and grandchildren, Douglas (Lauren), Jenny, Charles, Cameron, Nikolai (Natasha), Amanda (Brian), Alexander, Khrista, and Larissa, plus three great grandchildren, Haiden, Kara, and Kourtney.

We thank the staff at Aegis Hospice for the invaluable care they provided Eleanor, making her transition easier for all. The family also wishes to thank all the wonderful nursing staff and caregivers at Copper Creek Memory Care who helped care for her. There will be no memorial service.
