Billie Joe Sanchez
, 91, of Sun Lakes, Arizona, passed away on June 17, 2018. Joe was born and raised in Craig, MO. After graduating from Craig high school, he attended Kansas University then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After his service in the Navy (1944-1946), Joe attended the University of Nebraska and Nebraska University of Dentistry from 1946-1953 and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He practiced dentistry in Nebraska City NE from 1954-1989. Joe married Ethel Shelley in 1953 and had two children, Carmen Lucinda and Jon Joseph. He married Mary Lou Woods in 1987. While residing in Nebraska City, Joe was active in Jr. Chamber of Commerce, Sr. Chamber of Commerce, a Presbyterian church elder, Southeast District Golf Association of Nebraska, and the American Dental Association. He was a past member of the Optimist club, Eagles Club, and Elks Club and Current member of the American Legion. He served on the Planning Commission five years and the Nebraska City Cemetery Board. His main interests were his family, church, and dentistry. He enjoyed golf, bowling, cards, dancing and camping. He was huge University of Nebraska Cornhusker Football Fan. In 1994 Joe and Mary moved to Sun Lakes, AZ where he became active in church, a volunteer for Neighbors Who Care, held Bible classes in his home, golfing, card clubs, and a Diamondback Baseball fan. Joe is preceded in death by his first wife Ethel, father Joseph, mother Lucille Sanchez, step mother, Virginia Sanchez and brother Roberto Sanchez. He is survived by his wife, Mary Sanchez, son, Jon (Shirley) Sanchez, grandchildren, Jamie (Chris), Joseph, Jake, daughter, Carmen (Robert) Carubia, step children Rick (Tina) Woods, Bob (Carla) Woods, grandchildren, Beau Carubia, Chad (Alicia) Carubia, Codi (Domingo) Astiasaran and Lucas Carubia. A vistitation will be held, on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Drive, Chandler, AZ. Graveside will be on Wednesday, June 2018 at 8 AM at the City of Mesa Cemetery, 1212 North Center St, Mesa, Az following graveside service, a memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM at Family Bible Church, 4200 South McQueen Road, Chandler, Az.
